Ann Eastin Nugent

Ann passed away peacefully on Thursday evening, March 23 surrounded by her wonderful caregivers at Emerald Meadows Assisted Living in Grand Rapids, MI. She was born in Evanston, IL August 28, 1933 to Donovan A. and Martha B. Eastin and had one sister, Patricia E. Corcoran, all of whom preceded her in death. Ann is survived by her loving children, Margaret N. Ellwood (Brockton) of Tucson, AZ, Thomas W. Nugent of Austin, TX and Leslie A. Duquet (Charles) of Bloomfield Hills, MI; her dear grandchildren, Sarah E. Ellwood of San Francisco, CA and Carter H. Ellwood of East Lansing, MI; as well as many special cousins, nieces and nephews, friends and caregivers, including Sharon Brink, Catherine Glennon and Debbie Jo Wahl. 

Ann graduated from St. Catherine's School in Richmond, VA in 1951 and Bradford Junior College in Bradford, MA in 1953. She then enjoyed serving as a stewardess for TWA until her marriage to former husband, Frederic T. Nugent, currently of Holland, MI, in 1955. Ann raised her children in Madison, WI, but she moved with them to Okemos, MI in 1968 to be closer to her parents. Ann's career in Professional Marketing took off when she joined MJK Architects & Engineers of Lansing, MI. She moved to Grand Rapids in 1988 to accept positions of increasing responsibility with Williams & Works and Earth Tech, where she worked until her retirement in 1998. 

Ann was a very active volunteer, holding multiple leadership positions in her residential community of Chatham Woods throughout her almost 30 years there and serving with the Junior Board Guild of Blodgett hospital. Her greatest joy in retirement (other than her beloved cat, Walter) was found as a docent at Frederik Meijer Gardens where she served for over 15 years.
