Theodore Anthony Niemeyer

Surrounded by his family, Ted A. Niemeyer, age 76, peacefully passed into the loving arms of the Lord on May 19, after a valiant five-plus-year battle with cancer. Born in Chicago, Illinois, Ted will be greatly missed by his wife Karen, with whom he celebrated 54 years of marriage, his children: Kim, Todd and Andy (Becky) Niemeyer, his nine grandchildren, his twin brother Tom (Ute) Niemeyer, niece Danielle Niemeyer and nephew Tom (Peggy) Niemeyer. Ted and Karen enjoyed several years of travel in the United States and abroad after Ted retired from the insurance business in 2009. The family wishes to thank the many wonderful doctors, nurses and other health professionals who have cared for Ted and given him such excellent, kind and loving care since his medical journey began, and especially Dr. Stephanie Williams and the bone marrow transplant team at Spectrum Health Hospital. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 24, at 7 pm at Trinity Lutheran Church, 2700 E. Fulton, Grand Rapids. The family will greet friends from 6 pm to 7pm prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Grace Christian Academy, 4106 W. 28th Street, Chicago, Il 60623, or to Trinity Lutheran Church.
