Jacob (Jack) Arthur Verbrugge, age 81, of Wyoming passed away at his home on Friday, March 29, 2024.
Jack was born in Grand Rapids, MI on April 26, 1942, the son of Jacob and Kay Verbrugge. He graduated from Central High School class of 1961. After graduation he received tool & die training at Grand Rapids Junior College. He retired from Steelcase after 29 years.
Jack was involved in numerous family and church activities; he was a baseball coach and Scout leader for many years. He enjoyed spending time woodworking, cycling, traveling, making jewelry with his wife and grandchildren, as well as going to car shows. He never missed an opportunity to attend an event for any of his children or grandchildren. He was a lifelong member of Third Reformed Church where he served as deacon and prepared countless meals for Wednesday Kids Connection.
On July 19, 1968 he married Patricia Rinevelt and they spent 47 wonderful years together before her death in 2015. Surviving are three sons, Brian (Carla) of Kalamazoo, Steve (Heidi) of Kentwood, Aaron (Tami) of Hudsonville; 14 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, sister-in-law Pam (Jim) Hutchison and brother Rich (Pat) Verbrugge.
There will be a time of visitation Wednesday, April 3 from 5:00pm-7:00pm at the Metcalf and Jonkhoff Funeral service located at 4291 Cascade Rd SE. The family will also receive visitors 1 hour prior to the memorial service which will be held at 11:00am, Thursday April 4 at Ada Bible Church, 2045 68th ST SE, Caledonia, 49316. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Ada Bible Church General Fund.
