Carmen Anne (Ghareeb) Farran

Age 90 of Grand Rapids, passed away peacefully June 22, 2017 entering the Kingdom of our Heavenly Father.  Carmen will be lovingly missed and remembered by her children Leslie (David) Sukup, Nicholas Farran, Richard (Pam) Farran, Cheryl (Mark) Petrie, daughter’s in law Colleen Farran, Jill (Frank) Farran-Andrade; 12 grandchildren John Sukup, Anne Sukup, Laura (Michael) Korhorn, Allison (Karter) Klingenberg, Christopher Farran, Nathan Farran, Seth Farran, Jessica Farran, Richard (Ashley) Farran, Michael Farran, Nicholas Petrie and Matthew Petrie and 5 great grand-children.  Carmen was proceeded in death by her loving husband of 65 years Richard Farran, son William Farran, sister Jeanette and brothers Simon, George and Richard.  Carmen was a devoted Wife, Mother and Sitto whose greatest joy was caring for and cooking for her husband, children, grand-children and extended family and friends, always welcoming everyone into her home.  She was a very faithful and active member of St. George Church where she sang in the choir since childhood and was also a member of the Ladies Guild.  As Carmen’s memory started to fail her, she was extremely well cared for by her “girls” at Porter Hills.  She loved them all dearly and in her last year acquired many more daughters.  Carmen will be greatly missed by her dear friends and family.  Visitation will be held Sunday June 25, 2017 from 2-4 and from 6-8 pm at the Metcalf & Jonkhoff Funeral Home with a Trisagion prayer service held at 7:30 pm. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, with visitation at 10:00 am, on Monday June 26th at St. George Church, 334 LaGrave Ave. SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49503. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. George Orthodox Church.
