Charlene Jean Bigelow

Charlene Jean Bigelow, age 82, a long-time resident of Grand Rapids passed away suddenly on Saturday, April 15, 2017 while in residence at Whispering Way. Mrs. Bigelow was born on July 21, 1934 in Lansing, MI, the daughter of Vivern R. and Marguerite (McSherry) Demond. She was preceded in death by her husband, David James Bigelow on Feb. 5, 2007.  Surviving are her son, Robert and Christine Owen of Belmont; step-children, James, Violet, Patrick and Maureen; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her sister, Marlene Swart; many nieces and nephews; her step-sisters, Ramona Moyer and Holly Witter.  Mrs. Bigelow was a long-time member of Cascade Christian Church and had worked in the medical field as a receptionist for many years. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday and for one hour prior to the service at the church. The funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the Cascade Christian Church, 2829 Thornapple River Dr. SE, with her nephew, Navy Chaplain Roger Bouma officiating.  Interment Rest Lawn Memorial Park.
