David L Bolton

January 21, 1933 ~ January 20, 2016 (age 82) 82 Years Old

David Lee Bolton, of Grand Rapids and formerly of Holland, MI, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 20, 2016, one day before his 83rd birthday.  He was born January 21, 1933, in Racine, Wisconsin, to David and Mildred (Mielke) Bolton. He will be fondly remembered by his wife of 34 years, Linda K. Bolton, and children Kimberly (Jeffrey) Pavlock, and Saralyn Coupe (Mark Sherwood); grandchildren, Annamarie, Rebecca, Matthew Pavlock, Abigail and Nolan Sherwood. Dave is also survived by his sisters, Deanna Lococo and Cheryl Dwhytie, and brothers Curtis and Craig Ultsch. Dave was preceded in death by his sister, Cynthia Harmon and his first wife, Sandra Tuckman Bolton. Dave spent most of his childhood in Racine, as well as Sheboygan, Wisconsin.  Dave was a member of the Army, serving during the Korean War, and was a graduate of Michigan State University.  His early career was in broadcasting, where he began as a disk jockey in Fort Wayne, Indiana, moving then to Omaha, Nebraska, Detroit and Grand Rapids.  He retired from broadcasting as an anchorman with Wood TV 8, where he worked from 1968-1980.  Following broadcasting, Dave then earned his securities license and served as an investment broker at HB Shaine & Co. and later AG Edwards, from where he retired in 1998.  Dave was active in the communities, in which he lived, most recently as a member of Golden Kiwanis, as well as a volunteer for Sight Seers Radio Station, Westminster Presbyterian Church Food Pantry, and a Reading Buddy to second graders at Sherwood Elementary School.  He and Linda lived in Holland, MI from 1981 to 2003, where they attended Christ Memorial Church.  Dave enjoyed golfing with friends, reading at home, and spending time with his grandchildren. The family will welcome relatives and friends at the Metcalf & Jonkhoff Funeral Chapel, on Sunday, January 24, from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 pm.  The funeral will be held at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 47 Jefferson Ave SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49503, on Monday, January 25, at 11:00 am with one hour visitation beforehand.  Interment Woodlawn Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Sight Seer Radio in Grand Rapids or the Westminster Presbyterian Food Pantry.
