Age 84, of Grand Rapids, passed away Tuesday, February 1, 2018 after battling Lewy Body Dementia for the past three years. Dolores was born on August 13, 1933, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the daughter of Klem and Emily Vachul. She was an only child. She attended Union High School and started her career at Sarret's Department Store. She married the love of her life, Alger, in May of 1955 and was a stay-at-home mom, who volunteered her time at the school library. Media services became her full-time career once her children attended school full-time. She retired in the mid 1990's. Dolores enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially at the cottage, on Rose Lake, in Leroy, Michigan with her family and friends. Surviving are her son and daughter, Mark (Karen) Gustafson of Armada, Michigan and Julie (William) Moore of Ada, Michigan; four grandchildren: Robyn (Josh Ford) Risdon, Bryan Moore, Megan (Logan) Morse and Kelsey Gustafson, and two step-grandchildren: Kara (Ken) Randall and Joseph (Taylor) Reinhardt; and three great-grandchildren: Piper, Layla and Hadley Risdon. The family will receive friends for one hour (noon to 1 p.m.) prior to the funeral service, which will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, February 6, at Calvary Church, 707 East Beltline, Grand Rapids, MI 49525. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
