Gertrude E. Tuschling

Gertrude Erna Tuschling age 93, of Grand Rapids and long time resident of Porter Hills Retirement Village, went to be with her Lord and Savior on February 11, 2017.  She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years, Rev. Charles F. Tuschling Jr.  Trudy is survived by her loving daughter, Sandi (Dale II) Robart of Grand Rapids and her loving son, Charles “Chick” Tuschling III of St. Louis, MO; grandchildren, Leslie (Kerry) Peel and Nathan (Shannon) Wymer; six great-grandchildren; her sister, Ruth Zimmerman; nieces, nephews and cousins.  She was always active and involved in her Lutheran churches, especially as a Sunday school teacher and in the LWML-Lutheran Women's Missionary League.  She had a kind and gentle soul with a pure heart. She put others needs before her own. Trudy was a loving, compassionate, caring wife, mother and friend. She was so loved by many and will be greatly missed.  Funeral Services will be held on Saturday 11am at St. James Lutheran Church 2040 Oakwood Ave. N.E. Grand Rapids, MI 49505, with the Rev. James H. Blain officiating.  The family will greet friends on Friday from 4 to 7 pm at Metcalf & Jonkhoff Funeral Service, 4291 Cascade Rd SE Grand Rapids, MI 49546 and one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m.   Interment at Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, MI.  Memorial contributions may be sent to St. James Lutheran Church Endowment Fund. Trudy's family would like to thank the wonderful caregivers at Porter Hills Retirement Village/Health & Rehab Center and Emmanuel Hospice.
