Harold M. Schaperkotter

Harold M. Schaperkotter age 93 of Grand Rapids passed away Wednesday July 29, 2015.  He is survived by his son Harold Schaperkotter Jr. of Colorado, daughter Nancy Schaperkotter of Wisconsin; nieces Judy (Joe) Dombrowski, Pam (Gary) Boersma, Sue Comstock; nephew Jim Van Antwerpen and a special friend of more than forty years Lou VanderHave.  Harold was preceded in death by his wife Marjorie; brothers William (Ruth), John Schaperkotter and one sister Louann Van Antwerpen.  Harold was born and raised in Grand Rapids and graduated from Godwin Heights in 1940.  He retired from General Motors where he worked in the human resources department.  Upon retirement Harold spent the winter months living down in Lake Worth, Florida.  He was a longtime member of the Grand Lodge of Michigan (Masons), Schubert Choir and was also a volunteer for the Community Circle Theatre.  The funeral service will be held 11:00 A.M. Monday August 3, 2015 at the Metcalf & Jonkhoff Funeral Home.  Interment will be in the Graceland Mausoleum.  Visitation will be held Sunday at the funeral home from 4-8pm.  Memorial contributions may be made to Spectrum Health Hospice, Community Circle Theatre or the Carillon Bells at Grand Valley State University.
