Howard Paul Larson died April 9, 2018 in the comfort of his own home surrounded by family. He would have been 100 years young on July 17, 2018. His home town was Muskegon Heights Michigan. He was born to Paul B. Larson and Ruth (Searer) Larson and had 2 siblings – Robert and Airimis. Both Howard and Robert served proudly in the armed forces during WWII. Howard was stationed in Northern Africa and Italy as a Master Sergeant, while Robert served with Patton as a tank commander in the European theater. To keep things going at home Howard would send his paychecks state side to help his mother to meet monthly expenses. His father was paralyzed and bedridden from a stroke. Howard knew the value of prioritizing and putting family first.
He married Paula Hubscher in 1948 in Muskegon Michigan. They met after the war at a VA dance in 1945. Paula is known as quoting “I only date officers” but history proved differently. Howard knew he had found the women to spend the rest of his life with. They had 57 years together and four children. He was a wonderful father that inspired honesty and morality by the way he lived.
Howard started his professional career in 1949 with Copper and Brass Sales. He worked for them until he retired as Vice President in 1983. After retiring, he continued with the company as a consultant and even wrote a publication, which was used as a tool for aspiring sales people. He also traveled for the company doing workshops in sales techniques.
Howard loved the game of golf. He joined Cascade Country Club in 1969 and spent the free time he had learning and enjoying the game. He made many friends at the Club who he kept throughout his life. When he was not playing golf, he loved working around the house and keeping up his flower garden. He also enjoyed golf tournaments and knew all the great players and their records.
Howard was known for his quick wit and dry sense of humor. Wherever he went, his sharp persona was evident and appreciated. He will be greatly missed, but not forgotten.
