Jean L. Dean

Jean Louise Dean (nee Nicole) age 88 of East Grand Rapids passed away on Friday June 24, 2016.  She was preceded in death by her husband, John P. Dean (1988) and her ex-husband, Jack J. Tazelaar (1999); her parents Ira & Frances Nicole, step-mother, Helen Roth Nicole, and her sister, Marie Klein. 

Jean was born in Chicago on November 18, 1927.  She graduated from Central High School in 1945.  She attended Davenport Business School & Barbizon Modeling School in New York.  Jean is survived by her children Steven A. (Madeline) Tazelaar, Shelley K. (Steven Kranenberg) Tazelaar, grandson Ian G. (Kati) Tazelaar all of Grand Rapids;  her niece, Susan Klein of Florida & nephew, Peter (Denise) Klein of Wyoming, MI and very special friends, Alyce Edison Kobs of Holland, MI and Margaret Albenese of Austin, TX. 

Jean was an avid reader and loved spending time in her garden.  She was a member of Grace Episcopal Church.  In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to The Grand Rapids Public Library or the Kent County Humane Society.  A private family memorial service will be held later this summer.
