Jean Wood

Agnes Jean Wood (Miskill) age 93 passed away peacefully on Monday December 18, 2017. Jean was preceded in death by her husband Lewis Freeman Wood and her parents James and Nellie Miskill, brothers Robert (Joyce Miskill) and James C. Miskill. She is survived by daughter Nancy (John) Frisby, son Richard (Diane) Wood, and grandchildren Mathew Frisby, Mark Frisby, Jessica Wood, Chloe Wood, nieces and nephews. 

Jean was born in Grand Rapids, graduated from Central High and Michigan State University. Jean and Lewis were married at St. Andrews Cathedral in 1948 and celebrated 67 years together. Jean and Lew raised their family in East Grand Rapids where Jean was a member of the Women’s City Club, St. Johns Guild, St Stephen Parish and many book and garden clubs. In 1988 Jean and Lew made a permanent move to their home in Leland, MI where they enjoyed a wonderful retirement filled with golf, an active social life, reading a book a week and plenty of peaceful afternoons on the back porch.

Throughout her life Jean developed dear and close friendships including the renowned members of the “Birthday Group”, the fun loving crowd up in Leland and her friends at Heather Hills. 

The family would like to thank the staff at Heather Hills and Spectrum Hospital for their support and care. Per Jeans wishes cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held.
