Jeanne L. (Houston) Luplow

Jeanne (Houston) Jeffrey Luplow passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 23, 2017, in Grand Rapids, MI, eight days shy of her 95th birthday.  The daughter of John and Mary (Burns) Houston, Jeanne was born in Brooklyn, New York on April 1, 1922.  Jeanne was married to Alexander F. (Jeff) Jeffrey on March 11, 1944, and they raised their four children primarily in Grand Rapids and Saginaw, MI.  Jeff predeceased Jeanne on August 13, 1970.  Jeanne later married Leonard E. Luplow on April 1, 1977, and resided in Zilwaukee, MI until Len passed away on January 27, 1998.  Jeanne was active in local churches and was a regular volunteer for various hospital and charitable organizations.  

Surviving are two daughters and two sons, Barbara and Geoffrey Laham, Grand Rapids, MI; Richard and Andrea Jeffrey, Denver, CO; Jeanne and Thomas McDonagh, Georgetown, TX; and Thomas and Pamela Jeffrey, Raleigh, NC; two step-daughters, Coral and Ronald Chrcek, Goetzville, MI; and Connie Novak, East Tawas, MI; 15 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. 

Jeanne lived a long and happy life filled with family who loved her.  She was famously quick with a joke and made friends easily and often.  She will be missed dearly, but would want all to remember the happy times and have another laugh with her.  

Honoring Jeanne’s wishes, cremation has taken place.  Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the American Heart Association, the Alzheimer’s Association, and Faith Hospice of Grand Rapids.
