Joan M. Brundidge

Joan Meyer Brundidge, loving wife, mother and grandmother was born in Traverse City, MI on July 11, 1926, the daughter of Dr. E. Frank and Elizabeth Meyer. A graduate of Michigan State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. She taught at Sigsbee Elementary School in Grand Rapids, MI, composing many enjoyable marches on the piano for her students, before she married her loving late husband of 65 years, Theodore “Ted” Brundidge, who passed away earlier this year. She was a wonderful mother and wife who dedicated her life to raising and caring for her children and husband. She was an active member of East Congregational Church and president of the Joy Guild. She was a long-term substitute teacher in Kent County, an active member of the Woodcliff School PTA and room mother for many years. Upon her husband’s retirement, they spent winter months in Naples, FL., playing golf for many years. She was an avid reader, which she passed along to her family. She truly loved her grand-children and was recently the “flower gramma” at her grand-daughter’s wedding. She will be forever missed by her family; three children, Jane & Ed Gray of Grand Rapids, Jim & Chris Brundidge of Grand Rapids, and Cappy & Jim Hook of Kewadin, MI, and her grandchildren Stacey Brundidge, Carrie Brundidge, Liz & Rob Shellito, Reilly Gray, Trip & Virginia Hook, Justin Hook and Steve Hook. Also surviving are her brother James C. & Nancy Meyer of Canon City, CO; her sister-in-law Joanne Cage of Austin, TX, and her dear cousin Barbara Boonstra of Grand Rapids, as well as many loving nieces and nephews. In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
