Judith Emily (Seekamp) EvertOctober 18, 1940 ~ June 1, 2017 (age 76)
Judy Evert (Potter), age 76, of Sand Lake passed away at her home on Thursday, June 1, 2017. She was preceded in death by her son, Jim Guelzo; two sisters, Joyce Pellicano, and Edith Landis; by one brother, Charles B. Seekamp and her parents, Charles C. Seekamp and Emily Plowucha. Surviving are her husband, Thomas C. Evert; two step-sons Steven (Laurel) Evert and Randy (Susie) Evert; grandchildren, Lindsey (Drew), Carrie, Dan, and Josie; her sister, Jan Grow; sister-in-law, Marge (Paul) Potter and many nieces and nephews. Judy was born in Philadelphia and moved to Norfolk, VA when she was twelve. She graduated from Princes Anne High School in 1958 and two years later married and moved to Grand Rapids. Judy served in many professional organizations: The National Association of American Business Women, The National Association of Women in Construction and in both of their local chapters. She also served as President and Secretary of NAWIC, and was named Women of the Year in 1977. She also chaired two regional conventions for NAWIC in 1984 and 1991 held at the Amway Grand Plaza. Judy was an active member of Mayflower Congregational Church since 1988, where she served on many committees, taught Sunday School, became a Stephen Minister and served on the Council. The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday at the Metcalf & Jonkhoff Funeral Service. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Mayflower Congregational Church, 2365 Robinson Rd. SE, Grand Rapids.
