Julia Beer

Julia Elizabeth Beer, of Harbor Springs, Michigan,  passed gently into heaven on Saturday, November 4, 2017. Julia was born on June 3, 1925 to Joseph and Mary Laszar and lovingly raised from early childhood by her adoptive parents Douglas and Nita Ross.  

Julia was the beloved wife of Edward (deceased) and devoted Mother to Douglas Beer (Suzie) of Harbor Springs, Lynne Deptula (Frank) of Grand Rapids, Michigan, and Greg Beer (Holly) of Cape Coral, Florida. Also surviving are ten grandchildren; Thomas Beer (Tracey), Traci Biedenbender, Anne Bielawa (Matthew), Alie Church, Trevor Church (Kayla), Audrey Lustgarden (Barry), Andrew Plate, Ryan Plate, Stanley Plate, Trevor Plate, and eight great grandchildren.

Julia and Edward were Married on August 30, 1947 at Holy Family Church in Saginaw by the Monsignor John Supernaw. Delighting in the beauty of the Harbor Springs area and enjoying Winter respites in Freeport, Bahamas, Julia and Edward enjoyed sixty four wonderful years of marriage.

 Julia's true calling was caring for her family and expressing unconditional love for her children and husband. She was an avid Gardner, enjoyed reading, and was a member of the Bay View Reading Club and Harbor Misses. Professionally, Julia served Emmet County as Register of Deeds for 20 years.

 Her family will celebrate her life at a Memorial Mass on June 2, 2018 at Holy Childhood Church in Harbor Springs. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Emerald Meadows Assisted Living in Grand Rapids, where the staff embraced Julia with love and care. In addition, Faith Hospice of Grand Rapids provided compassionate care to Julia and the whole family.
