Kathleen Ann Gabriz

Kathleen Ann Gabriz, 57, passed away peacefully at her family home surrounded by her family May 21, 2015 into the embrace of The Lord.  Kathleen is the loving daughter of Elayne; dear sister of Michael (Mary) Gabriz, Mary Jo (Keith) Datema, Dorothy (Ed) Duben and Marilyn (Pete) Meadows.  She is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family.  Sadly, she is preceded in death by her father, Paul Gabriz. Born December 1, 1957 in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Kathleen graduated from Forest Hills Central High School in 1976, with honors, and played the clarinet and flute in the band.  She was an accomplished pianist and was studying music at Aquinas College until an automobile accident in 1977.  She resided at Eisenhower Center in Ann Arbor for close to 20 years where she thought of the staff as her extended family.  She was a favorite of the staff and would often play the piano in the dining room.  Known lovingly by her family and friends since childhood as Beanie, she kept her family and those around her laughing with her sense of humor and diva smile. Kathleen also loved shopping at Target, animals, crafts and baking.  Our memories of Kathleen will be cherished in our hearts as well as all of those that she touched.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 AM Tuesday May 26th at Marian Chapel, St. Robert of Newminster Church; 6477 Ada Dr. SE, Ada, MI.  Interment will follow at Cascade Twp. Cemetery.  Visiting hours have been arranged for Sunday from 12 noon until 3:00pm at the Metcalf & Jonkhoff Funeral Home and on Tuesday half hour prior to the service at the church from 11:00 to 11:30am.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Eisenhower Center Helping Hands Fund, c/o Fonda Wilson, 3200 Eisenhower Pkwy., Ann Arbor, MI or Hospice of Michigan, 989 Spaulding Ave., SE, Ada, MI.
