Lee Henry Leprich

Lee Henry Leprich, age 83, of Grand Rapids passed away January 19, 2017 at Faith Hospice Trillium Woods after a long struggle with numerous health issues.  Lee was born in Salem, Ohio on April 7, 1933.  He is survived by Marylin (nee Reeves) his wife and “light of his life” for 58 years.  Also surviving Lee is his daughter Elizabeth (Frank) Petersen and granddaughter Meghan Brock Murphy, all of Denver, Colorado.  Lee was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Hilda Sarah Leprich and by his sister Shirley Leprich Peterson.  He attended Salem High School, class of 1951, and received his bachelor’s degree from Ohio University, Athens, Ohio in 1958.  He was a member of Phi Delta Theta social fraternity.  He served his country in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Alaska.  Following his graduation he began his business career in sales, centered in the metalworking industry.  In his management position he directed a sales team covering the middle third of the United States.  In 1976 Lee and Marilyn moved to Grand Rapids from Columbus, Ohio.  Aside from business he was a voracious reader of war history and stories of the American West.  He had a passion for classical music and opera.  Special people in Lee’s life include his brother-in-law Donald L. Peterson and his four nieces and nephews.  He also had a very special friendship with Alex Martin, an honor student at Forest Hills Central High School, who was mentored by Lee for many years.  A celebration of Lee’s life will be held on Saturday, April 8th at the University Club in Grand Rapids, from 2-4pm.  For those who wish memorial contributions may be made to the Grand Rapids Symphony, 300 Ottawa Ave. NW, Suite 100, Grand Rapids, MI 49503 or Faith Hospice at Trillium Woods, 8214 Pfeiffer Farms Drive SW, Byron Center, MI 49315.
