Welcome to the memorial page for

Marjorie Ann Gezon

March 15, 1921 ~ March 24, 2017 (age 96) 96 Years Old

On March 24, 2017, Marjorie Ann Gezon was welcomed into Heaven by her Lord Jesus Christ, as well as by her husband, family and friends.  Jesus said, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die.”

Marjorie’s life began in rural Byron Center, Michigan on March 15, 1921. She was delivered by a country doctor named M.R. DeHaan, who later became the founder of The Radio Bible Class ministry and the pastor of Calvary Undenominational Church.

Marjorie’s grandparents came to Michigan from the Netherlands in 1875, building a new life through hard work and strong faith in Jesus Christ, a tradition which has been carried out through each consecutive generation.

Marjorie’s parents were James and Margaret Blok.   She had a brother named Jim and a sister named Ruth who have preceded her in death.

Marjorie graduated from Ottawa Hills High School in Grand Rapids, Michigan. After high school she learned secretarial skills at Davenport Institute in Grand Rapids.

On June 3, 1944, Marjorie married Gordon Gezon. They made their home in the Grand Rapids area. They had two daughters named Carol and Janet, born in 1948 and 1951. Marjorie devoted her young adult years to being a great mother and wonderful, loving wife. Her joy was found in witnessing the personal growth and success of her children and by creating a solid Christian home.

Bethany Reformed Church was the Gezon family’s church home for many years, where Marjorie enjoyed singing in the choir. When Bethany Reformed merged with Fairview Reformed in 1994 to form Orchard Hills Reformed Church, they began attending there.

As her daughters reached their teenage years, Marjorie worked part-time for Penney’s credit department. She was also a member of the Women’s City Club, where she enjoyed playing bridge and attending a Bible study.

Upon retirement, Marge and Gordon spent their winters in Bradenton, Florida. They couldn’t wait to get back to their condo where they could enjoy the warm weather, and play golf and card games with their friends.

Gordon died in 2006. Gordon and Marjorie enjoyed sixty-one years of marriage together. During the past eleven years Marjorie has been in a nursing home. She died on March 24, 2017.

Surviving is daughter Carol (Don) McSheehy and grandson Wesley. Also surviving is daughter Janet (Kim) Rush, granddaughter Amy (Christopher) Fox Zurawic and great grandson Elliott. Also surviving is granddaughter Sarah (Dana) Fox Snider and great-granddaughters Brianna, Taylor and Morgan (Snider.)

The family would like to extend special thanks to Grace Hospice for their excellent care of Marjorie.
