Paul C. Richards

Paul Clayton Richards aged 92 of Grand Rapids, passed away Monday July 11, 2016.  He is survived by his son John (Lynn) Richards of Kentwood, daughter Joanna (Charles) Mulder of Clarksville; grandchildren Paul Richards, Maria (Clint) Keeler, Jessica (Jeff) Bauer, Steven Richards, Brittney Mulder and two great grandchildren Deaken and Dillon Keeler.  Paul was preceded in death by his wife Mary (Afendoulis) Richards, sister Kay Rand and brothers Norman and Edward Richards.  Paul was a Navy veteran who served during World War II.  He survived a kamikaze attack in the 7th fleet on an escort carrier, the USS Ommaney Bay.  Paul enjoyed going out to Lake Michigan with his wife Mary on the weekends, doing yard work outside and spending time with his family.  The funeral service will be held 11:00am Thursday July 14, 2016 at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 330 Lakeside Dr. NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49503.  The family will receive friends Wednesday at Metcalf & Jonkhoff Funeral Home from 2-4 and 6-8pm with a Trisagion Service at 7:00pm.  Interment in Rest Lawn Memorial Park.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association of West Michigan.
