Robert "Andy" Andrew Lubbers

Robert Andrew "Andy" Lubbers died at his home on September 9th.  He was born in East Grand Rapids August 1, 1973 and attended East Grand Rapids Schools where he lived some of his happiest days.  He had many good friends and they rewarded him by electing him Senior Class President.  In adulthood he suffered mental illness.  During the last months, depression made his life appear unsustainable, and he chose to end it.

Opportunities to see and communicate with friends over the years were most important to him.  At his best he was a loyal friend, and a generous spirit.  He especially appreciated his friendships with Robert, Melissa, and Liz who helped him in recent difficult times.  His best experience in the past years was the loving relationships he had with his family.

He is survived by his parents Arend and Nancy Lubbers, his brothers and sisters-in-law Don and Pamela Lubbers, John and Mary Lubbers, his sisters and brothers-in-law Mary and Michael Montgomery, Caroline Lubbers and Vasili Gerogiannis, his nephew Ben Lubbers, his niece Sarah Hosack her husband Tom, and their daughter Evelyn, his nephew James Montgomery and his wife Lesley, his nieces Vivian and Juliet Gerogiannis.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 24 at 2:00 p.m. at Fountain Street Church.  The family will greet friends on Friday, September 23 from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Metcalf & Jonkhoff Funeral Home.
