Dear Linda,

I was in Louisville, Kentucky for a performance by our artist, Augustin Hadelich, when the LSO's General Manager, Lindsay Valandingham told me the news about Roger. I had just been emailing with him a few days earlier! I met Roger soon after Michal Schmidt's sudden death hurled me into my current position as Director of the company she founded, Schmidt Artists International. Roger was so responsive and kind to me during that period, and has continued to be one of my closest friends in the business. Trying to absorb this tragic news, I found that I could picture exactly the places that he and I had met at every conference I have attended! He's just been a very special guy. I was in Grand Rapids a few years ago, and also got to hear how wonderful an orchestra the Grand Rapids Symphony is. His passing away leaves such a very big gap in so many people's lives. I personally will always remember him.

With deepest sympathy to you and the entire family,

Patricia Handy

Dear Linda, Elizabeth, Andrew and Hannah,

Please know my heart goes out to you. I worked with Roger for many years and am very saddened to hear this news. I had respect and admiration for Roger. He was a wonderful colleague with integrity, knowledge and a great sense of humor. I enjoyed our annual conference meeting to hear the latest news on the kids – he was so very proud of you. I will miss working with him.

Sending you prayers of peace and comfort,

I knew Roger for over 20 years working with him to bring AMG artists to Grand Rapids. He was always professional, courteous, and forthcoming. I will miss our annual breakfast at League conference and our chats from time to time over the phone. My deepest condolences to his family and the Grand Rapids Symphony. He will be very much missed by me, and I am sure the rest of music business.

Dear Linda, Elizabeth, Andrew and Hannah,

I have known and worked with Roger over the last 15 years and was so shocked by this news, as were many of us who worked with him in the business. He will be sorely missed.

Roger was well-respected amongst us and a really great guy. He had integrity and a quiet strength, was razor sharp, and had a good nose for talent.

Sending my deepest condolences and sympathies,
Charlotte
