Love, thoughts and prayers to the Middleton Family. Thinking of all of you. I graduated High School with Sam- in 1990. A blink of an eye- now 27 years later... Last time I saw Sam- I believe was in 1995 - when I ran into him at a restaurant in GR. Sam was a shining star- and a friend to everyone. Such a bright soul. Wishing him peace above with the angels, and support and strength to his family.

We remember Sam warmly from junior high and high school days. His leadership qualities as a quarter back were apparent.
Sam lives in my memory, sunlit, smiling, forthright.
To all who continued to be a part of Sam's life, we send our loving blessing; may you be comforted by the God of all comfort.

To Sam's loved ones-
I met Sam while I was still attending Hope College through a mutual friend. We remained in contact and eventually became more acquainted while we were both living and working in Grand Rapids. I remember he was one of the first people I spoke with after 9/11. He was a very sweet, funny and sincere person. Although we had not kept in touch over the past 10+ years, I am certainly saddened by his loss and I know if we had bumped into each other recently it would have been one of those moments as if no time had passed.
I know Sam is now home with our Heavenly Father and I pray for those he loved dearly that remain.

I am so sorry to hear of your great loss. I have known Sam for a long time. My earliest memory of Sam is from first grade. I remember him sitting next to me and can see his spunk, his spark, his smile that was there in first grade and throughout his life. My last memory of him was running into him at the Breton Village parking lot. All he did was talk about his family and gave me updates on all of you. I hope you find comfort in your own memories in the days ahead.
love, Sarah

Dear Mrs. Middleton, Joe and Brandy,
I am so sorry for your loss. Sam was a great long-time friend and I feel so lucky to have the memories i do of him. I will miss him very much.
We were usually in a larger group, but I also have memories of visiting him in Holland or Saugatuck over the span of a couple summers w/ Jamie Billo. We also spent a number of lunch hours either at your, my, or Brad Youngblood's or Aaron Tishkowski's house SR. year of HS. (We had a odd-timed lunch hr together)
I will always remember Sam's good...., wonderful nature, sense of humor and his inclusiveness.
I know, or cannot imagine Sam as anything but a wonderful, caring ......, loving son, brother, father and uncle.
My heartfelt, deepest sympathies to you, his children, and your extended family.
Sincerely,
Jim McCarthy
