Virginia B. Brown

Virginia B. Brown of Friendship Village, Schaumburg and formerly of Barrington and Northbrook passed away peacefully February 6, 2016. Virginia was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan on March 16, 1924 to Benjamin and Ella (Caukin) Bishop. She graduated from Ottawa Hills High School and went on to attend the University of Michigan with her high school sweetheart, the late William K. Brown, to whom she was married on February 17, 1945. They were happily married for over 47 years before his passing in 1992. She dedicated her life to her husband and raising her children. Virginia was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority, an avid golfer and achieved her “life master” award in bridge at the age of 82. She was a Brownie and Girl Scout leader and volunteered her time at both the Illinois Children’s Home and Aid Society and Friends of the Northbrook Public Library. Loving mother of Nancy Bettermann, Carolyn (Bruce) Gordon and Martha Brown. Proud grandmother of Jeffery, Robert and Andrew (Susan). Adoring great grandmother of Emily.

Visitation Thursday from 4 to 8 PM at Ahlgrim & Sons Funeral and Cremation Services, 330 W. Golf Road, Schaumburg. Service and burial at Cascade Township Cemetery, Grand Rapids, Michigan on Saturday, February 13th. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to American Cancer Society or American Lung Association.
