Robert “Bob” Denfield Crossman died peacefully in his sleep on February 29, 2024. He was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan on June 10, 1930 to Wilford and Marguerite Crossman. Bob had one brother, Tom, and a twin sister, Judy, all who predeceased him. Following graduation from Central High School and GR Community College, Bob obtained his DDS degree from the University of Michigan in 1954. He served two years in the Air Force and then returned to Grand Rapids to begin his dental practice.
Bob met his wife, Barb, in high school. She survives him and they celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary in August 2023. Also surviving are his daughter, Carol (Paul) Honigberg, his son, Jeff (Daphne) Crossman, his grandchildren Mike Honigberg (Ben Tobin), Meg Honigberg, Catie Crossman (Cyriel Pieters), Christie Crossman, and Robbie Crossman, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Bob was very active in his church, Trinity Lutheran, Versiti Blood Center of Michigan, formerly known as Grand Valley Blood Program, the West Michigan District Dental Society, and the Kent County Dental Society. He enjoyed sports, particularly playing tennis, and cross-country skiing, and traveling with his family. Woodworking and jewelry making were long-time hobbies. His family and his faith were the cornerstones of his life.
Funeral services for Bob will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at Trinity Lutheran Church (2700 Fulton St E, Grand Rapids, MI 49506). Visitation will be from 10:00am-11:00am followed by the service at 11:00am.
