Anne G. Zimmerman of Grand Rapids passed away on October 27, 2019 at the age of 88. She was born to James and Martha (Seeley) Gallery, on November 25, 1930. Anne graduated from Caro High School in 1948 and went on to study and graduate from the University of Michigan with a BA in Elementary Education in 1952. Anne married Charles Thomas Zimmerman on February 4, 1953. She and Charles moved to Frankfurt, Germany, from 1953 to 1954 while Charles served in the U.S. Army Band, and Anne taught first grade in the U.S. Army School. Following their time in Germany they moved to Ann Arbor, MI in 1956, where Anne continued teaching first grade. In 1956 Chuck and Anne moved to Grand Rapids where Charles practiced probate law. Anne continued to teach first grade in the Grand Rapids Public School system until daughter Susan was born on May 20, 1957. Son Bill followed on November 26, 1969. Anne’s interests included reading, singing in the church choir, music, travel, cooking, entertainment, art history and life long learning. She was a Stephen Minister, member of Shakespeariana II, a legacy Delta Gamma Sorority member and belonged to Delta Gamma Writers group. Anne was also a Docent at the Grand Rapids Art Museum. She is survived by daughter Susan (Bruce) Fennema, son Bill (Debbie) Zimmerman, grandsons Noah and Ethan Zimmerman. A memorial service will be held on November 2, 2019 at 11 am, First United Methodist Church, 227 Fulton St. E, Grand Rapids, MI 49503.
