Jacqueline Ann Bass, age 83, of Grand Rapids, Michigan, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at her home at Porter Hills.
Jacqueline was born on October 6, 1942, in Lakeview, Michigan, the daughter of Martin and Helen Jozwiak. She later moved to Royal Oak, where she attended high school and briefly studied at Ferris College.
Jackie was a devoted homemaker and a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She worked part-time at several retail shops in East Grand Rapids, forming lifelong friendships at Cracker Jacks, Pappagallo's, and Jacobson’s. After Jacobson’s closed, she worked alongside her son John at his family jewelry store, Thomas S. Fox Jewelry.
Jackie found joy in cooking, entertaining, crafting, and playing weekly poker with dear friends. She especially cherished traveling on cruises with Ray and spending time with her family.
On October 11, 2000, Jackie was united in marriage to Ramon Leroy Bass, who preceded her in death on April 11, 2016. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Martin and Helen Jozwiak; her brother, James Jozwiak; and her first husband, Thomas G. Turrentine.
She is lovingly remembered by her brother, Thomas Jozwiak; her children, Julie (Peter) Gray, John (Joan) Turrentine, and Lisa (Ted) Spooner; and her stepchildren, David (Dianne) Bass, Daniel (Joy) Bass, and Allison (David Flanigan) Bass. She also leaves behind six grandchildren: Margaret, Elizabeth, Thomas, Carter, Spencer, and Cody; and five great-grandchildren: Isabelle, Eloise, David, Jacqueline, and Walker.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Porter Hills for their exceptional kindness and care. Special thanks to Mickie, Eileen, Laurel, Lori, and Anna, as well as Hannah, Sanela, and Lynn, for their compassion, companionship, and dedicated support.
A private family gathering will be held to honor and celebrate Jackie's life.
