James Howard Ostrander, age 81, passed away on Thursday, January 13th, 2022 at his home in Ada, MI.
Jim was born on January 31, 1940 to the late Vinton and Georgina Ostrander. In 1959, he graduated from Almont Highschool where he excelled in sports and was named most athletic and most humorous in his class. In 2017 he was inducted into the schools Hall of Fame. Jim attended the University of Colorado and graduated from Parsons College in Iowa. In 1963 he was recruited by Vince Lombardi to play for the Green Bay Packers, unfortunately a knee injury ended his professional sports career.
In 1966 Jim married Peggy and they spent their years together making wonderful memories with their sons and extended family. They spent endless weekends camping, boating, fishing and hunting. No matter what the activity, it was the time spent with family and friends that made it all so fun.
Jim had a successful career in pharmaceutical sales and after retirement he developed his skill as an artist, creating numerous paintings for family, friends and members of the community. Jim never had a bad day and found the good in every situation.
He was preceded in death by his parents Vinton and Georgina Ostrander and his two brothers Gerald and Larry Ostrander. Jim is survived by the love of his life and wife of 55 years Patricia “Peggy” (Daniels), his sons Shawn (Jennifer) Ostrander and Branden (Jennifer) Ostrander and his beloved grandchildren Jordan, Shelby, Carson, Madeline and Mitchell. As well as his large extended family and many friends.
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Monday January 17, 2022 at the Metcalf & Jonkhoff Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 11am. If one wishes, a memorial contribution can be made to the Ada Township Fire Department.
