Virginia "June" Medich, age 88, passed away peacefully on June 1, 2026.
June was born on May 1, 1938, in Butte, Montana, to John and Zorka Sagin. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Nick Sagin; and her beloved husband, Robert Medich.
Raised in Butte, June graduated from Butte High School in 1956. After attending Montana State University, she moved to Seattle, Washington, where she worked for New York Life. While participating in a church choir, she met Robert Medich of South Bend, Indiana. Their connection was immediate, and they became engaged within six months. On September 16, 1962, June and Robert were married, beginning a loving partnership that would span 56 years until Robert's passing in 2018.
The newlyweds settled in South Bend, Indiana, where they began building their life together and raising a family. As Robert established Modern Pattern Works, the family relocated in 1970 to a farm in White Pigeon, Michigan. There, June embraced country life and found great joy in creating a loving home and raising her children in the peace and beauty of rural living. She was employed by the Kirsch Company in Sturgis, Michigan, and was known for her strong work ethic, kindness, and devotion to her family.
Throughout her life, June's faith remained central to who she was. She was a longtime member of Sts. Peter & Paul Serbian Orthodox Church in South Bend, Indiana. In 2012, she and Robert sold their beloved family farm and moved to Grand Rapids, Michigan, where she became a member of St. Nicholas Antiochian Orthodox Church.
June will be remembered for her warmth, gentle spirit, sassy personality, unwavering faith, and deep love for her family. She cherished time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and her legacy of love, strength, and devotion will continue through the generations she helped shape.
She is survived by her children, Grant Medich; Adele Trimble (Jeff); and Brad Medich (Carelia). She is also survived by her grandchildren, Gabrielle Tome-Cojeen (Brody), Steven Medich (Jessica), Daniel Tome (Zhenia), Madeline Tome, Larissa Lampe (Isaac), Em Medich (Ashton), and Aaron Tome (Dasha); and her great-grandchildren, Julien, Leo, Fern, Junie, Sofia, and Louisa.
June's memory will be treasured by all who knew and loved her.
Funeral services will be held at 11am on Monday at St. Nicholas Antiochian Orthodox Church. The family will greet friends on Sunday at the church from 1 to 3pm and again on Monday at the church from 10 to 10:45am. Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Nicholas Antiochian Orthodox Church 2250 E Paris Ave. S.E. Grand Rapids, MI 49546.
