Matthew Weadock Obituary

Matthew Donaldson Weadock, 57, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, August 5, 2022. Cremation has taken place. He was born on March 7, 1965, in Saginaw, Michigan to John Weadock, Sr. and Karen Krogman Weadock. He is survived by his daughters Brianna Weadock of Norfolk, VA, and Maddie Weadock of Grand Rapids, MI, former spouse Kim Weadock of Grand Rapids, MI, father John S. Weadock, Sr. (Maribeth) of Grand Rapids, MI, sister Stacey Gannon (John) of Sanford, MI, brothers Randy Gaskin, Baldwin, MI, Shawn Gaskin (Alisa), Grand Rapids, MI, Thomas Gaskin (Nicole), Lowell, MI, and many dear aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. He is predeceased by his mother Karen Krogman Weadock and brother John S. Weadock, Jr.

Matthew was beloved by everyone who met him. He showed kindness, love, acceptance, and compassion allowing him to be the most lovable person that many were lucky to know. He was a lover of animals – having many pets, which he would do anything for – even sitting on the floor while they slept on the couch. He was the most dedicated Detroit Lions fan in the world, clearly demonstrating his hopefulness, faith, and trust even when it wasn’t necessarily warranted. His neighbors are going to miss his unique Lions touchdown celebrations as he rode his scooter around the block, wearing his official Lions helmet, honking his horn – garnering their applause and appreciation for a celebration all too rare. Matthew was an avid fan of music, having the best and coolest taste. He loved the Rolling Stones and his Mick Jagger impersonations and dance moves were always the life of the party. Matthew spent many years coaching his daughters’ AYSO soccer teams to an unbeatable and undefeated 6 seasons! He was passionate about coaching and even shouting the cadence to practice drills in German (shout out to the Goal Goal Girls!). He will be loved and missed for eternity. A service to celebrate his life will be held on Sunday September 11, 2022 from 1-4pm at Douglas Walker Park, 1195 84th St. SW, Byron Center, MI 49315. May he rest peacefully.
