Thomas John Fleming

Thomas John Fleming passed away on Sunday March 8, 2026 at the age of 78.  He was born on November 30, 1947 in Grand Rapids, Michigan to the late Jesse Thomas and Ruth Maurine Fleming. 

Tom will be lovingly remembered by his children Matt (Aika) Fleming, Sarah (Bill) Reece, Angie Fleming, Jessica Fleming; grandchildren Richard, Mary and Bryson Fleming, Brianna and Katelyn Reece; sisters Margaret Stretton and Pam (Mike) Schaab, many nieces and nephews and his beloved cat Wanda. 

Tom graduated from Central High in 1965 and then spent his career in advertising with the Grand Rapids Press from 1966-2009.  He enjoyed golfing, bowling, and softball.  Tom also loved gardening, grilling, reading, and watching his favorite westerns, but most of all being with his family.  He was a loving father, grandfather and brother who will be deeply missed.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 5-8pm on Thursday March 12, 2026 at the Metcalf and Jonkhoff Funeral Home, 4291 Cascade Rd. SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49546.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Tom’s memory may be made to the charity of your choice.
