Welcome to the memorial page for

Betty Lou Baguley

June 16, 1931 ~ December 18, 2017 (age 86) 86 Years Old

Betty L. Baguley, died peacefully on December 18, 2017 at the age of 86.  Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, John Keith Baguley.  She is survived by her children: Gayle Casey, John Baguley (Shu-lien), James K. Baguley (Theresa Bacon-Baguley), Leigh Baguley (Donald Werthmann), and William Baguley (Jennifer). She is also survived by their eleven grandchildren: Jenae Nordman (Matthew), Jonathan, Jordon, and Joshua Baguley; Erin Geurink (Todd), James A. Baguley, and Lauren Breuer (James); Emmett and Sophia Werthmann; and Andrew and Claire Baguley and her great grandson Henry Geurink.

She was born in Lansing, MI on June 16, 1931. She graduated from Caro High School in 1949 and then from the University of Michigan Nursing School.   Betty was a nurse and was extremely dedicated to her profession.  She worked in the Special Care Nursery at Blodgett Hospital and took great pride in the care she gave to premature infants.  Always learning, she went back to school in her 50’s and became a neonatal nurse practitioner.  Even in retirement, she worked at Spectrum Health Med Centers saying she felt she should pay them for the entertainment she received.

She was talented at baking, sewing and knitting.  She was especially known for her homemade soups, jams, and pies.  She loved Michigan football and hosting family holiday celebrations.

Betty and Keith found a second home in the Florida Keys and spent many winters entertaining family in their slice of paradise on Little Torch Key.  The sunshine and friendships she found there sustained her through her later years.

She was extremely proud of her children and grandchildren and will be dearly missed by her entire family.  A celebration of Betty’s life will take place on Saturday, December 23 at 11AM at the Metcalf & Jonkhoff Chapel.  The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Saturday from 10 to 11AM.  Donations in remembrance of Betty can be made to Eastminster Presbyterian Church.
