Betty Grace (Abbott) Whitmore

Betty Grace Whitmore, age 93, a resident of Heather Hills, Grand Rapids and formerly of Plainwell, MI, passed away on Wednesday, August 1, 2018. Betty was born on April 19, 1925 in Cortland, N.Y., the daughter of Earl and Mary Louise (Park) Abbott.  Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, Stuart Abbott, and by her husband and love of her life for 69 years, Charles Whitmore. Surviving are her children, Jackie (Jim) Hinrichs of Ft. Myers, FL., Brad (Julie) Whitmore of Freeland, MD., and Karen (Mark) Young of Caledonia. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, 3 nieces and nephews and several cousins. A gourmet cook, she spent many hours preparing delicious meals for family and friends.  She loved the years traveling with her husband throughout the country. At home sewing and reading were her enjoyments. In keeping with her wishes cremation has taken place and a private family celebration of her life will be held. Interment at Graceland Memorial Park..
