Carol Growney

Carol Growney, 73, died peacefully on February 2, 2018.  She is survived by her three Children, Shannon, Jay (Kristi) and Sean (Rene’), seven grandchildren, Matthew, Jack, Olivia, Molly, Ella, Sam and Eden as well as her best friend Lou Hospodarski.  Carol was recently preceded in death by her husband James Growney of 51 years and they are now reunited to continue their beautiful love story.

Carol was born in Montreal, Canada on July 24, 1944 to Derek and Janet Asselton.  Carol enjoyed her time at TWA as a flight attendant before raising her children and continued her success when she opened Windsor Cottage with her best friend. She had a love for fashion and design and anything she touched was exquisite.

Carol was a loving grandmother and all of her grandchildren loved spending time with their “GiGi.”  She was beautiful, charismatic and had a spirit about her that made everyone feel welcomed and loved.  She will be missed.

Services honoring Carol will be held Saturday February 10th at 11:00 A.M. at the Metcalf & Jonkhoff Funeral Home, 4291 Cascade Rd. S.E., Grand Rapids, MI 49546 with the family arriving at 10:00 A.M. to receive guests before the service.  In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 25200 Telegraph Rd. Suite 100, Southfield, MI 48033.
