Christopher L. Hautau

"Well done good and faithful servant"

Christopher Lance Hautau, age 55 of Grand Rapids, Michigan, passed away Friday March 15th, 2019, surrounded by his loving family. Chris is preceded in death by his Father Dennis Hautau. He is survived by his wife Dana Stein, three children Reese (12), Carter (9), Brody (8), his Mother Flora Hautau, his in-laws Penny and Henry Stein, brothers Kirk (Melinda) Hautau and Wesley (Kristin) Hautau, Brother-in laws David (Colleen) Stein and Kevin (Cheryl) Stein, Randy and Judy Flier (special grandparents to the children) and many loving extended family and friends.

Chris was raised in Grand Rapids, Michigan and graduated from Forest Hills Northern High School in 1981, spending childhood summers on Lake Bellaire in northern Michigan. He attended Michigan Technological University earning a degree in 1987, and worked for several manufacturing companies in IT roles, most recently at Kautex Textron. With a quick wit and a wide variety of interests, Chris had a natural gift to be conversational on nearly any topic. He was most content while snowmobiling, four-wheeling or boating with family and friends. His three children were the point of his pride. He intentionally invested in building a solid foundation of faith for their growth, and was seen by his family as a pillar of strength.

The funeral service celebrating his life will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday March 23, 2019 at Berean Baptist Church, 1574 Coit Ave. NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49505. Visitation will be on Friday at the Metcalf & Jonkhoff Funeral Home from 5-8pm and from 12-1pm at the church on Saturday.  Memorial contributions are suggested to the educational funds of the Hautau children (https://www.gofundme.com/hautau-kids-education-fund)

The family would like to thank so many dear friends that have walked alongside them during this difficult trial. We honor a life that was lived to the fullest, we honor his spirit now free.
