Diane Stephens Montgomery, wife of Gregory Hugh Montgomery, mother to Gregory Jr., Charles “Steve” (Heather) and Margot Montgomery Moran (Thomas) and “Dee Dee” to Chase Montgomery, Quinn Moran, Campbell Montgomery, Brooks Montgomery and Hannah Moran, lived valiantly and with grace. On October 19, 2019, she was reunited with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles W. Stephens, sister Suzanne Stephens Castleman of Little Silver, NJ and many dear friends.
Diane graduated from Centenary and Wheelock Colleges with a BS in Education. Volunteering was in her blood. Mentoring school children in Grand Rapids and her years at the helm of Blodgett Hospital’s Hodgen Guild were two to which she was devoted.
Diane cherished her New Jersey Shore roots and life-long friends there. She considered their 20 years at their cabin on Flag Point on Higgins Lake, her Heaven on earth.
To Diane, Diney, Dee Dee, Mrs. Monty or Mrs. M, whatever you called her, family and friends were everything. Daily morning walks with her BFFs, gardening, entertaining in her home, a friendly game of bridge, a good read and a good laugh, made her the happiest. “A glass 1/2 full” person, who considered that a gift.
Thank you to Faith Hospice for your supportive, loving care, Gatehouse neighbors and to the too many to name and count friends for the outpouring of love and support.
