Donn W. Palmer

Donnally W. “Donn” Palmer, age 101, of Grand Rapids, passed away September 26, 2019. He will be greatly missed by his sons, Richard (Jemery) and Woody (Bonnie), and his grandchildren, Justin (Melissa) and Vanessa. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Ada, and his wife of 68 years, Louise “Lois”. Donn was an Army veteran of 4 years of active service during World War II. He graduated from the University of Michigan School of Architecture and was a renowned designer of many public buildings, especially schools. He was a member of Cascade Christian Church for almost 60 years, as well as serving in many leadership positions with service clubs, civic, professional, governmental, and neighborhood organizations, and his church. He was also an award-winning artist, known especially for his watercolor paintings. He also enjoyed woodworking, antique cars, writing poetry and non-fiction, wintering in Florida, and playing golf, cards and pool. He most enjoyed sharing time and activities with his family and good friends. Funeral Services will be held Friday at 11am, with visitation at 10am, in the chapel at Cascade Christian Church, 2829 Thornapple River Dr SE.
