Dick “Doc” enjoyed life to the fullest! He was born Thanksgiving day, November 25,1915 in Jolliet, Il, the son of Roscoe and Mary Sidell. He was a skilled surgeon who attended University of Chicago, Rush Medical School and did his surgical residency at the Mayo Clinic. He then moved to Grand Rapids where he enjoyed practicing at Blodgett, Butterworth and Gerber Hospitals. He loved spending time with his family on Reeds Lake, hunting, fishing, skiing, and playing gin rummy, but he especially loved golf! He was a lifelong member at Blythefield Country Club and spent his winters in Clearwater, FL, where he golfed daily at Innisbrook Resort in Palm Harbor. He was still active golfing and hunting well over the age of 100! Some of his favorite things were chasing the geese off his lawn and dinners on the deck with a good Margarita. His sense of humor will be missed by all of us who were lucky to call him Dad, Pops, G-pa, Gramps, Great Grampy, Papa and friend!
We give special thanks for the wonderful care provided by his girls; Lori, Loretta, MaryLou, Charlotte (Victor), Cheyenne and Debra Jo Wahl, who loved him and helped him spend his later years enjoying his home.
A family memorial will be held at a later date.
