Jerald Waldron Obituary

Born May 14, 1926 in Grand Rapids Michigan, passed away on November 10, 2018 at Heather Hills Nursing Home. He was preceded in death by his first wife Elaine, and second wife, Geraldine, with whom he had been married 34 years. He was also preceded by his brothers David (wife Barb), Charles, and sister Marilyn. Surviving siblings & cousins include his brother Lee Waldron (wife Jenny), sister Patricia J. Burgett (husband Glenn), and cousins Jack (wife Pat) Waldron.

Jerald is survived by his two children: Charles Waldron and Cathy Richardson, as well as his four step children, David (Kathy) Helderop, Stephanie (Craig) Eudy, Kevin Helderop, and Karin Weissert and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Jerald served his country by eagerly enlisting in the Navy when he was only 17 during WWII following in the path of his older brother David.  He then was called back for the Korean War. His time with the Navy and his days on the ships gave Jerald many exciting adventures and stories to tell in vivid detail and glory.  He proudly displayed his affiliation with the Navy.

After his Navy days, Jerald settled down and married Elaine who passed away from cancer.  He then met his second wife Geraldine and retired from his 30+ year career at the Arrow Uniform Company.

He loved to be around family and friends.  He enjoyed going up to the cottage near Silverlake, Michigan. Jerald also rejoiced in good food and drink, as well as watching every hockey game that came his way (his favorite - the Detroit Redwings). A special consideration goes to his stepson Kevin Helderop who has been a pillar of strength for Jerald and his second wife in the last ten years of their lives.  He will be missed by all of his family and many friends.

The family will greet friends at a showing for Jerald from 6 to 8 pm Tuesday, November 13th.  A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, November 14th at 11:00 am in the Metcalf & Jonkhoff Chapel.
