Richard B. Long

Richard B. Long passed away Friday January 26, 2018 at the age of 85.  He was born on April 21, 1932 in Wayne County to the late Burton and Ruth Long.  He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 50 years Mary Lou Long (nee Remenap), children Richard (Teresa) Long Jr., Gregory Long and Julie (Anthony) Rosier; grandchildren Brooke, Sydney and Kali Long; great grandchildren Dylan and Oliver and one sister Joy (Jack) Kennedy.  He was preceded in death by a brother Charles Long.  Dick was a proud veteran serving in the US Airforce during the Korean War.  He worked many years as an account executive in the insurance business retiring from Blue Cross Blue Shield.  Dick loved the outdoors and was an avid golfer his entire life.  He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be greatly missed.  A memorial service with military honors celebrating his life will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, February 6th at the Metcalf & Jonkhoff Funeral Home, 4291 Cascade Rd. SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49546 with visitation one hour prior to the service.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Faith Hospice or the American Legion Post #356.
