Ruth Manix Brush

Ruth Manix Brush of Grand Rapids, passed away on January 3, 2018.  Family and friends were Ruth’s passion and delight. Ruth enjoyed many outdoor activities including her Golf Group called the “Mug Hunters” for many years at her Club.  She also enjoyed her membership in a Tennis Club, called the “Ding Bats”.  She loved hiking around the lakes in East Grand Rapids, riding her bicycle and taking long walks with her good friends.  Ruth also belonged to a Swim Group which she greatly enjoyed with her good friends.  Another favorite was her Bridge Club.  The socializing and card playing with her dear friends went on for many years.  One of Ruth’s favorite things to do was hosting parties and attending parties (attending was way more fun).  She was always looking forward to the next party and still did right up to the end of her life.  She served on many committees and boards during her lifetime.  For several years, she served on the Board of Emeritus.  She was a Trustee at Mayflower Congregational Church in Grand Rapids.  She belonged to Blodgett Hospital Guild Jr. Board and served as President for some of those years.  She enjoyed her sing-a-long Dinner Club and going to each other’s homes and singing after their dinner.  Ruth also was President of the Tuesday Club which raised money for various charities.  Family vacations were always fun for Ruth and her husband and two boys, Nicholas and Christopher.  She and her husband Richard traveled the world with their son Christopher.  Ruth had a very full and wonderful life filled with so many great friends and adventures.  She loved life and didn’t want to miss the next party or event.  She loved people and people loved her.  She had a great sense of humor and enjoyed laughter and the company of good friends.  Ruth is survived by her children Nicholas (Cathy) Brush, Christopher (Karen) Brush; her grandchildren Adam (Jen) Brush and Jamie (Mike) Lomonaco and 5 great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held Saturday January 6, 11 am at Mayflower Congregational Church 2345 Robinson Rd. SE Grand Rapids with a reception following at Kent Country Club.
