Adrienne DeMooy Sremba, age 75, of Grand Rapids, MI, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 26, 2025, at home surrounded by her family.
Adrienne was born the daughter of Adrian and Claire (Plantinga) DeMooy in Benton Harbor, MI, on October 20, 1949. She graduated from Timothy Christian High School Class of 1967, and later graduated from Calvin College in 1971. She received her Master’s Degree in Recreational Therapy from Michigan State University, and worked at Pine Rest Christian Hospital, Grand Rapids Public Schools, and Mary Free Bed Hospital. While working for Mary Free Bed, she spent over 10 years at Metro Hospital as a recreational therapist for the Assisted Breathing Unit.
Adrienne was an active member of Westminster Presbyterian Church since 1980 and assisted in the youth choir program and was a member of the Sanctuary Choir for over 30 years. She loved singing in the church choir and spending time with her family, camping and often enjoying the beaches of Lake Michigan and Florida. She was very involved in the Parkinson’s Disease community and the Power Up group.
On July 12, 1980, she was united in marriage with Michael Francis Sremba who survives. Also surviving are her son, Matthew and Leighann (Lesley) Sremba; two daughters, Angela Sremba and Shawn Martin, and Kristin Sremba; three granddaughters, Abigail Sremba, Olivia Sremba and Ally Rae Sremba-Martin; two sisters, Diane VanderPol and Adele DeMooy; nephew, Jonathon and Alexandra (Chang-Gonzales) VanderPol and their daughter, Havana.
Funeral services will be held at 2pm Friday, January 31st at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 47 Jefferson SE Ave, Grand Rapids, MI. For those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to Mary Free Bed Hospital, Westminster Presbyterian Church, or Faith Hospice.
