Ann Hoodhood passed away on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, at the age of 92. She was born in Flint, Michigan on November 4, 1931, to the late Sam and Sadie Salem.
She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 73 years, George W. Hoodhood Sr.; sons Jeffrey (Mary Kay), George W. Jr., Dan (Kim); grandchildren, Melisa, Matt (Caitlin), Erica, Sean, Kalie, Noah and one great-grandchild, JJ. Ann was preceded in death by her sisters, Louise Brockman and Lourice “Laurie” Beers, and by her brothers, Harry Salem and Fred Salem.
Ann was a longtime member of St. Nicholas Antiochian Orthodox Church and was very active with the Forerunners. She loved to play the piano, was a wonderful cook and it brought her great joy to host events for family and friends. She absolutely loved throwing a great party surrounded by her loved ones, great music and good, plentiful food. Ann was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who will be greatly missed.
Visitation for Ann will be held Thursday, August 29th from 6-8 pm with a Trisagion Prayer Service held at 7:30 pm. Her funeral will take place on Friday, August 30th at 11:00 am with visitation from 10-10:45 am. Both visitation and funeral will be at St. Nicholas Antiochian Orthodox Church, 2250 East Paris Ave, Grand Rapids, MI 49546. Private interment following the service at Woodlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Nicholas Church.
