Barbara Lee (Randolph) Clare passed away on August 13, 2021, at the age of 82. She was born on November 20, 1938, in Greensboro, North Carolina, to the late Carl and Ruby (Leach) Randolph. She is preceded in death by her husband, David Clare Sr., and will be lovingly remembered by her three children: son, David Clare Jr. (Marc), daughter, Susan (Carmen), and daughter, Amy (Brian); three grandchildren Joseph, Brennan, and Austin. She has one sibling, Eleanor Sue (Randolph) Tickle (Don): one nephew, Brian (Laurie), and one niece, Alison (Chris).
Barbara graduated from Needham B. Brought on High School in 1956. She continued on to the Virginia School of Nursing at the Medical College of Virginia, graduating in 1962. She began her nursing career in Richmond, VA, later moving to Athens, GA., where she started a family. In 1977, the family moved to Grand Rapids, Michigan, where she began a 25 year career at the Kent County Public Health Dept., as a Public Health Nurse. She has maintained a number of lifelong friendships developed during that time.
A memorial service will be held at 11:30 AM on Saturday September 18th at Trinity United Methodist Church, 1100 Lake Dr. SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49506, with visitation beginning one hour before the service.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Ma Cares, a service/guide dog organization based in Greensboro, NC. The organization is committed to “helping service dogs help others.” Their trained dogs help Veterans with PTSD, Traumatic Brain Injuries, as well as physical and neurological challenges.
