Barbara Jane Daley

Barbara Jane Daley, age 91, of Cascade Township, has left a trail of broken hearts.  She passed into God’s light, surrounded by her family, on Saturday, August 19, 2023.  Barbara was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Patrick Michael Daley, siblings Catherine (Walter) Seilisch, Betty (Glen) Kelly, and Raymond (Laura) Wagner, in-laws Clayton Jesweak, Mary Anne and Ward Stoel, Robert and Dorothy Daley.  She was a kind, patient and loving mother to her children Cathi (Tom) Biggart, Sue (Rick, deceased) Venema, Patrick (Janet, deceased) Daley, Dennis Daley and Anne-marie O’Dalaigh, 13 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.  She is also survived by her best friend and sister, Mary Ann Jesweak. 

Barbara was born in Cadillac, Michigan on September 30, 1931 to Helena (Schaefer) and Michael Barry.  She graduated from Cadillac High School and Davenport College.  During her professional career she worked for Aquinas College’s Alumni Association, Forest Hills Public Schools, and Foremost Insurance Company.  Barbara had a passion for helping others.  She was a foster mother many times over, an active member of her parish’s Stephen Ministry at Holy Family Parish in Caledonia, and a member of the Altar Society at St. Thomas.  She loved reading, traveling, pontooning on the Thornapple River, cooking for her family, playing the piano, anything Notre Dame and believe it or not, climbing trees! 

Visitation with the family will be at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church on Tuesday, August 22 at 10 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial presided over by Fr. Troy Nevins.  Burial will be at Resurrection Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Faith Hospice. 

The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff of Spectrum Health/Blodgett and Faith Hospice.  We couldn’t have made it through her passing without you!
