Barbara Lee (Meyering) Roelofs

Barbara Lee Meyering Roelofs Dahlke passed away on January 14, 2026, halfway through her 95th year. 

Barbara was fiercely loyal and loving to all who knew her. A lifelong learner, she held notable degrees in both nursing and architecture. One of her most defining accomplishments was her tireless fight to save her family’s home and over a thousand others, leading her to become a founding member of the Heritage Hill Association. She was honored to be its last surviving founding member. 

Barbara is survived by her devoted husband, Jayson Dahlke Butler; her children, Tammy, Robert, and Steven; her siblings, Letty, Bunny, and Harold; and many beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She also leaves behind her cherished cat, Baby, with whom she shared a special bond. As promised, Jayson cared for Barbara in her home until her final breath. 

Funeral services will be held at 12pm on Monday, January 26, 2026, at Westminster Presbyterian Church 47 Jefferson Ave SE Grand Rapids, MI 49503.  The family will greet friends during a visitation at the church two hours prior to the service, from 10am to 12pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation in Barbara’s name to the Heritage Hill Association.
