Betty Dykstra

Betty (Elizabeth) Dykstra, age 93, passed into the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, February 17, 2026. Betty was born on August 2, 1932, the daughter of Edith and George Palma of Coopersville. She moved to Grand Rapids when she was united in marriage to Peter Dykstra, the love of her life. They had enjoyed 65 years of wedded bliss when Peter went to be with the Lord in 2018. Her survivors are her children Betty and Jonn Belding, Peter and Diane Dykstra, Tom and Grace Dykstra, Linda and Peter Kiemel; nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister-in-law, Margaret Palma of Ludington, Michigan. Betty was beloved by all who knew her. She was the matriarch of her family, showing loving support to each individual. She supported her husband’s business, C. Dykstra and Sons, throughout the years and in many capacities. She was active in the Grand Rapids Christian school system; in her place of worship, East Leonard Christian Reformed Church; and at her place of residence for the past 25 years, Cook Valley Estates. She was a gifted hostess and enjoyed showing hospitality to family and friends.

The family will receive friends at the Metcalf & Jonkhoff Funeral Home, 4291 Cascade Rd. SE Grand Rapids, on Friday February 20, 2026 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm.  Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday February 21, at East Leonard Christian Reformed Church, 1027 Leonard St. NE Grand Rapids, 49503.
