Carlene Marie Nasby, age 75, of Grand Rapids, passed away on Tuesday, February 13, 2024. The daughter of Carl E. and Genevieve J. (Kasper) Turner, Carlene was born on July 24, 1948, in Taylorville, Illinois where she spent her early childhood. Due to her father’s work in the mining industry, Carlene traveled extensively and lived in many places throughout her childhood, including Miami, Florida and the country of Peru for a time before her family settled in Des Plaines, Illinois where she met and married Stanley “Bud” Nasby. Together they were blessed with the birth of their daughter, Julia, and ran their own auto repair business for nearly 20 years before moving to Grand Rapids, Michigan in 2005 to be closer to their daughter where she had settled. Carlene was an avid Chicago Bulls and Bears fan, loved crafting and collecting anything that caught her eye! She possessed a deep love of dogs, but most of all, her family.
Carlene was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Stanley “Bud” Nasby in 2007 and by her sisters, Carole Jean Turner, Rita Ann Turner, and Annette Irene Nasby. She is survived by her daughter, Julia (Behnam “Ben”) Kia; grandchildren, Rachel Kia and Ethan Kia; niece, Genevieve (Phillip) England; and two nephews, James Nasby and Robert (Nancy) Nasby.
