Carol Grimm Obituary

Carol Ann (Hultsch) Grimm of Grand Rapids, passed away on October 20, 2021. Carol Ann was born November 23, 1932, in Columbus, Indiana to the late Arthur and Marie Hultsch. She married Thomas Reed Grimm in 1952, and he preceded her in death in 2009 after 57 years of marriage. Carol Ann is survived by two children, Christine Beaver and Stephen (Amber) Grimm, brother Roland (Margaret) Hultsch, six grandchildren, Jason (Jaclyn) Brzezinski, Jaime (Jeff) Burns, Kara (Tim) Keeling, Davis, Dylan, and Eleanor Grimm, 12 great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

She received her B.S. degree from Ball State University in 1952 at the age of 19 where she was a member the Alpha Chi Omega sorority. After graduation, she started her teaching career in a one room schoolhouse in Bean Blossom, Indiana. She received her master’s degree from Ball State in 1965. She was a devoted first grade teacher for 34 years in Wabash, Elkhart and Bowen Elementary in Kentwood.

She and Tom traveled the world and she loved to garden, read, and play the piano.

She touched the lives of her students, family, and friends, and will be lovingly remembered.

There will be Memorial Visitation Friday, November 5, 2021 from 5-7 PM at the Metcalf & Jonkhoff Funeral Home.

Private graveside services will be held.
