Carol Zago

Carol Agnes Zago, 80, of Livonia, MI passed away on November 8, 2023. Carol was born in Detroit, MI on November 13, 1942.  She is survived by her son Michael, daughter-in-law Kathy, granddaughters Lauren and Sophia, sister & brother-in-law Joan & Brian Wake, brother-in-law Tino (Dolores, dec.), brother-in-law Roger, nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends.  She was preceded in death by her husband Giovanni, son Christian and parents Thomas & Lois Peddie.

A devoted wife, mother, oma, aunt, sister, cousin and friend, she was completely committed to and present for everyone close to her. Carol always gave special attention to her two granddaughters Lauren & Sophia, whom she adored. Carol could always be counted on to be a listening, sympathetic ear and her presence in the lives of all who loved her will be missed so much. 

Carol selflessly focused her life on caring for others including her son Christian who was severely physically and mentally impaired from birth. Carol generously volunteered for a number of organizations that were close to her heart including the Ronald McDonald House, Children’s Hospital and The ARC of Northwest Wayne County. Carol was honored for her extraordinary volunteer work with the Volunteer of the Year Award from The ARC, Heart of Gold Award and the Go4it Volunteer Award from WDIV/TV.   

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The ARC of Northwest Wayne County, 7170 N Haggerty Rd, Canton, MI 48187.  A Memorial Service will be held at 12pm on Friday, December 1, 2023 at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, 11441 Hubbard St, Livonia, MI 48150.  Visitation prior to the service at 11:00am.
